Big / Quiet / Cold / Berlin /

I did not choose the best season to visit Berlin. The town was still covered with snow and filled with icy air. The coldness freezes the toes, but it does not freeze out the minds of Berliners. My companion and I took a casual way to explore the city for the first time, and found out that not only Berlin is a very big, quite and cold place... , but also it has this courageously unique attitude towards it's history. What happened in the mid 1900's was too heavy. To neglect or to deny the mistakes from the past can be seen as an easier way out, but to face the scars like what Germans did could allow them and the rest of the world to have compassion for each other and the strength to become a better self.

INDIGO- Reflection

When I started this project, I was already three weeks behind at College- it's the price for spending a joyful Christmas break in Paris. Anyway, when I finally got my head around this project, I had to find objects that are accessible and plasticising to start off drawing and creating a colour palette. Though I didn't have much time for research, I had enough ideas  to move onto design development phase. Getting onto Dubied (industrial knitting machine) was quite a challenge; more than half of my samples are done by 10 and 12 Gauge machines (10/12 needles per 1 inch), so my samples look refreshingly finer than the work I have done before.  Overall, I am happy with the outcome, I tried my best, though it is not my favourite project. A couple of things that I should keep in mind for the future projects- time management,  experimentation, and concept development.
