Covent Garden, China Town, and Leicester Sq. are located in the heart of central London, it's the must-go area for all the visitors and most of the Londoners... whether you like it or not.
An object/product from a market stall or second-hand shop-
I'm not quite sure if the magazine sold by a street people can be categorised in this column. The Big Issue is a publication that is dedicated to help the street people to earn money in a decent way. This idea has also been imported to Taiwan. They usually appear on the exit of underground stations, or in this case, on the street of a lively neighbourhood. Surprisingly, I saw a couple of people bought it in just a minute. Location is all what matters.
An object/image /product from a shop, department store, boutique-
What I am interested in is what people have in their hands that can only be found in this area. One of the answers is a M&M's bag! The M&M's store is on the ground floor of W hotel. It's an iconic store where people from everywhere can come and pop in for a little American sweets spirit. Why did I choose an American brand over an UK brand? I simply find that as long as the product is commercial and profitable enough, globalisation can go a long way.
An object/sculpture/painting/artwork/image from a museum or gallery-
Mr and Mrs Andrews, about 1750, Thomas Gainsborough.
I've known about this painting before I came to UK, so it was quite emotional for me when I actually saw it in the National Gallery. This painting has a sense of British identity, whether it's because of the way Mr and Mrs Andrews dresses or the country side background. All kinds of people come to the National Gallery; I'm especially aware of the amount of students coming to visit the gallery. How lucky they are to grow up in an environment that is rich in culture and art.
Collage imageries of catalogs by Twenty&twelve.
Final outcome- the beauty of collaboration!
