17 days at Julia's Studio

My work includes: Domestic machine knitting- garment shaping, textured pattern surface making. Linking- connecting strips of knitting. Finishing- pressing, cleaning up edges, mounting samples, and photo shooting. Winding yarns, industry machine sewing, and hand stitching into garment. Julia has a high standard of how she wants her knittings to be done, which is good for me to practice doing things in a professional sense. I was involved in the process from actual making to finishing, and organising them to be presented at Pitti Filati (yarn and knitwear fair at Florence, Italy ). Although I didn't get to design, I am glad that the work I have done are all related to my specialisation as a textile design student. Perhaps in a year or two I get to develop design for fashion houses or knitwear studios. Another aspect I learnt from this experience is that being reliable is important. There were a couple times that I failed to deliver it, but Julia was really patient with my error. Overall, she is quite pleased with my performance. Starting next week, I'm off to Jane's studio!
