Bon appétit- French dining philosophy

1. Eat well
2. Willing to spend time on it ( cause sometimes you can have so-so food, but still takes up an amount of time for it)

I have never in my life, spent so much on dining alone. Usually when you're eating alone, you have your smart phone next to you, so you can feel that you're needed somewhere else or you can ease out the awkwardness among groups of chattering people. Since I do not have 3G on my iphone, plus, I do have time. Therefore, I began to appreciate the passing of time while I dine... For example, I began to taste the sweetness of beer , and kept on track on when does the sweetness go away, then, I took another sip. It actually took me almost an hour to finish up my salad and beer tonight. Quite an experience.

Now, take your time, and enjoy the song.

What to do first?

It has been almost one a half day since I arrived at Paris. It did not take long to notice that Paris is a much chiller city. There are less chain stores; many people jogging in the park (Jardin du Luxembourg); quite a few of French people sitting outside of cafes chatting. Getting myself a French number is on top of my list, yet after I went to three major telecom companies, I realised that having a smart phone is not as common as it is in London or in Taipei. As it turns out, I am going to live the life as the way I lived it 3 years ago- no 3G, for three months. Bien. The greatest thing about Paris is that there are numerous artistic places to go to. The one I went today is called Musée Bourdelle. Antoine Bourdelle was once an assistant of the sculptor Rodin, and a great sculptor himself. The museum is based around the preserved studios of his days, it has retained all of their original charm within a relatively modern environment. It houses a rich collection- both personal and archive collection. As I was visiting, I could not help but regret that I did not bring my sketch book with me!!! I have this strange thing that if I don't draw the image down physically, the visual pleasure will never truly be part of me. Anyway, now I know that getting a sketch book is on top of my list.

What to do last?

Just before I set out for Paris, I decided to say good-bye to London in my own little ceremonial way, which is to take a stroll to some of my favourite places in town. It includes a cafe latte and croissant at Monmouth, visit both Tate Modern and Tate Britain, and a gathering at Korean restaurant with new friend and old friends. To me, it was a perfect day.

In 7 days, I'm going to France- my dream land. I have never showed much interest in this place, cause it has always been too far away from me. Until I come to London. I will keep updating ma expérience française via constant leak, hopefully through photographs, art work, or scribblings I could record a piece of it.
