Final outcome of Habilitation PAO

Arts X Crafts X Designs

There are so many museums in Paris. Besides the well-know ones such as Musée du Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, Musée de l'Orangeri, Centre Georges Pompidou...etc. There are lots to discover. I have been visiting museums regularly, but I am far behind on the reflection updates. Anyways, one at a time- Musée des Arts et Métiers, aka Museum of Arts and Crafts.

Ever since The Age of Discovery, and The Industrial revolution. The Western Europe has been considered as the one of the most developed culture in the modern age. The museum of Arts and Crafts is the place to house those inventions throughout the historical movements. I can still recall when I was a teenager, studying world history in Taiwan. I learnt all about those eras through text books, but now I  can see the document and collection display in front of me is very thrilling. The experience gave my chills. 
Without knowing history, it's almost impossible to become a true innovator. So many great things have been created, what is there for us to imagine of? Design is a relatively new concept since modernity. Designers' job is to create object that goes along humanity, or sometimes help people to become a better version of themselves. This is what I believe in.

Intensif semaine 2

This week was the second and the last intensive block I have at ENSCI. I'm doing Habilitation PAO, which is working with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign. The task is to design a poster, and a manual for a given product.
Though I have worked with all three softwares before, I only know the basics, and I am a bit frighten by them frankly speaking. The adobe family is very useful in terms of image manipulation, textile print, and portfolio design etc. So this is a great opportunity to advance my skills. At the end of the week, I'm happy with what I came up with (I will update it shortly), and I'm impressed by some of the outcomes by other peers in class, consider it was their first try in using these tools. However, the key is to use these tools regularly and inventively, so that I don't forget what I learnt from the session.

Chapter 1

Immersion Culturelle

Last week was the intensive week about French culture and the language. It's the perfect class for all the exchange students and the international students at ENSCI. It consists 13 of us- just the right amount. The topics covered in class are very diverse; most importantly, it's all in French. Sometimes I'm at the top of my learning curve; yet sometimes I'm not even in the loop. Overall, I finally am making some progress. Besides, it's great to know more about the country I'm living in- Paris is amazing!!! But by the end of the week, I'm simply relieved that I can have some peace of mind.
